A good piece of advice has been circulating for some time: “Think global, act local”. While we may think that an event taking place in one location has not effect on us, we all need to think again.
The information regarding a talk in a rural town in the Midlands of Ireland has parallels around the world – especially in the U.S. where global companies are erecting wind turbines at a great pace – and the power lines to service them. Thus the articles from What is 5G should send alarm bells ringing for those living in the countryside. Broadband Over Power Lines (first trialled in Ireland several years ago and deemed too expensive at the time) is again on the agenda. This time it is to carry the 5G signal which is up to 100 times faster but, unfortunately 10 times stronger.
Research carried out in one country is easily transferred from one jurisdiction to another. This, if Ireland is the first country in the world to completely bathe the country in the 5G signal, a precedent has been set and 5G can be deployed across Europe.
A second item of relevance if the geological impact of microwave radiation on the planet. As with human and animal health, it is difficult to prove or disprove microwave damage to Earth’s geology. The spike in the Schumann Resonance, the electromagnetic heartbeat of the Earth deserves attention. Could H.A.A.R.P. technology be responsible for the Hurricanes in Haiti and New Orleans, the damage to the spillway at Oroville Dam or the current swarm of earthquakes at Yellowstone?
These are perilous times with many unknowns. People need to ask questions and share the answers.

It’s 2027, and you’re walking down the street, confident you’ll arrive at your destination even though you don’t know where it is. You may not even remember why your device is telling you to go there.
There’s a voice in your ear giving you turn-by-turn directions and, in between, prepping you for this meeting. Oh, right, you’re supposed to be interviewing a dog whisperer for your pet-psychiatry business. You arrive at the coffee shop, look around quizzically, and a woman you don’t recognize approaches. A display only you can see highlights her face and prints her name next to it in crisp block lettering, Terminator-style. Afterward, you’ll get an automatically generated transcript of everything the two of you said.
As the iPhone this week marks the 10th anniversary of its first sale, it remains one of the most successful consumer products in history. But by the time it celebrates its 20th anniversary, the “phone” concept will be entirely uprooted: That dog-whisperer scenario will be brought to you even if you don’t have an iPhone in your pocket.
Sure, Apple AAPL 0.45% may still sell a glossy rectangle. (At that point, iPhones may also be thin and foldable, or roll up into scrolls like ancient papyri.) But the suite of apps and services that is today centered around the physical iPhone will have migrated to other, more convenient and equally capable devices-a “body area network” of computers, batteries and sensors residing on our wrists, in our ears, on our faces and who knows where else. We’ll find ourselves leaving the iPhone behind more and more often.
Trying to predict where technology will be in a decade may be a fool’s errand, but how often do we get to tie up so many emerging trends in a neat package?
China’s all-seeing surveillance state is reading its citizens’ faces

SHENZHEN-Gan Liping pumped her bike across a busy street, racing to beat a crossing light before it turned red. She didn’t make it. Immediately, her face popped up on two video screens above the street. “Jaywalkers will be captured using facial-recognition technology,” the screens said.
Facial-recognition technology, once a specter of dystopian science fiction, is becoming a feature of daily life in China, where authorities are using it on streets, in subway stations, at airports and at border crossings in a vast experiment in social engineering. Their goal: to influence behavior and identify lawbreakers.
Ms. Gan, 31 years old, had been caught on camera crossing illegally here once before, allowing the system to match her two images. Text displayed on the crosswalk screens identified her as a repeat offender.
“I won’t ever run a red light again,” she said.
China is rushing to deploy new technologies to monitor its people in ways that would spook many in the U.S. and the West. Unfettered by privacy concerns or public debate, Beijing’s authoritarian leaders are installing iris scanners at security checkpoints in troubled regions and using sophisticated software to monitor ramblings on social media. By 2020, the government hopes to implement a national “social credit” system that would assign every citizen a rating based how they behave at work, in public venues and in their financial dealings.
China’s technology companies are helping lead the way, scooping up unprecedented data on people’s lives through their mobile phones and competing to develop and market surveillance systems for government use.
Facial-recognition technology is one of the most powerful new tools in the surveillance arsenal. Fueled by advances in artificial intelligence, these systems can measure key aspects of a face, such as distance between the eyes and skin tone, then cross-reference them against huge databases of photographs collected by government agencies and businesses and shared on social media.

Other countries also have begun experimenting. In the U.S., the Federal Bureau of Investigation uses the technology to help identify criminal suspects, and the Department of Homeland Security is deploying it in airports to track when foreign visitors leave the country. Its use is expected to grow world-wide as a tool for law enforcement and personal identification, and U.S. companies are among those using it in pilot programs.
China, however, stands apart in harnessing facial recognition as a cudgel to influence behavior. The Chinese Ministry of Public Security-its national police force-and other agencies called in 2015 for the creation of an “omnipresent, completely connected, always on and fully controllable” nationwide video-surveillance network as a public-safety imperative. In a policy statement, the agencies included “facial comparison” in a list of techniques to be used to improve surveillance networks.

CIA can hack & track Windows devices via their Wi-Fi connections
WikiLeaks has released the latest Vault 7 batch of CIA hacking exploits. ‘ELSA’ is malware used to track WiFi-enabled devices running Microsoft Windows, allowing the CIA to gather location data on a target’s device and monitor their patterns and habits.
ELSA tracks the geolocation of wifi-enabled devices, providing the CIA with a target’s “pattern of life,” by recording details about wifi access points near the target machine.
The malware allows the CIA to track a target’s location even when they’re not connected to the internet. All that’s needed is for the device to be wifi-enabled and in an area where wifi access points are in range. Using wifi for geolocation means GPS isn’t required.
‘Pre-Crime’ surveillance technology, social blacklisting
Last May I reported on Britain’s latest anti-crime technology already in use in the UK in a piece entitled“Britain’s Minority Report Style ‘Pre-Crime’ Programme Unexpectedly Unearthed“.
I described how Britain already had a reputation for deploying the most intrusive surveillance systems against its own people anywhere in the Western world and how “Pre-Crime” systems were being tested with police using big data to stalk potential offenders who’ve yet to break the law.
At the time I also mentioned that police departments around the world were partnering with private companies to use public data, personal information and algorithms to predict where illegal actions are most likely to occur and, crucially, who is most likely to commit them.

Richie from Boston takes us down a scary rabbit hole, citing the 2001 patent #US6506148 B2, “Nervous System Manipulation by Electromagnetic Fields from Monitors”. The patent contains drawings of a person at close range from an old school TV set with schematics illustrating how EM fields from the television can be used to manipulate the human nervous system.
The patent’s Abstract states: “Psychological effects have been observed in a human subject in response to stimulation of the skin with weak electromagnetic fields that are pulsed with certain frequencies near 1/2 Hz or 2.4 Hz, such as to excite a sensory resonance. Many computer monitors and TV tubes, when displaying, pulsed images, emit pulsed electromagnetic fields of sufficient amplitudes to cause such excitation. It is therefore possible to manipulate the nervous system of a subject by pulsing images displayed on a nearby computer monitor or TV set. For the latter, the image pulsing may be embedded in the program material, or it may be overlaid by modulating a video stream, either as an RF signal or as a video signal. The image displayed on a computer monitor may be pulsed effectively by a simple computer program. For certain monitors, pulsed electromagnetic fields capable of exciting sensory resonances in certain subjects may be penetrated even as the displayed images are pulsed with subliminal intensity.”
Richie takes us from the already- horrible spectre of mass brainwave entrainment (I used to have a stack of patents for these sorts of effects as thick a a telephone book) to how the circuitry pictured in this patent look like magickal sigils, which function to invoke demons (!) He says that therefore, every time we use telecommunications, we are
inadvertently invoking “Powers and Principalities.”
It’s a bit of a stretch and I don’t any more excuses to not watch TV (because I don’t watch it) but I can’t toss it off completely, either!

What does the spike in the Schumann resonance mean?
In 1952, German physicist and professor W.O. Schumann hypothesized there were measurable electromagnetic waves in the atmosphere that existed in the cavity (or space) between the surface of the earth and the ionosphere. According to NASA, the ionosphere is an abundant layer of electrons, ionized atoms, and molecules that stretches from approximately 30 miles above the surface of the earth to the edge of space, at about 600 miles. This dynamic region grows and shrinks (and further divides into sub-regions) based on solar conditions and is a critical link in the chain of Sun-Earth interactions. It’s this “celestial power station” that makes radio communications possible.
In 1954, Schumann and H.L. König confirmed Schumann’s hypothesis by detecting resonances at a main frequency of 7.83 Hz; thus, the “Schumann resonance” was established by measuring global electromagnetic resonances generated and excited by lightning discharges in the ionosphere. While this phenomenon is caused by lightning in the atmosphere, many are not aware of the importance of this frequency as a tuning fork for life. In other words, it acts as a background frequency influencing the biological circuitry of the mammalian brain.
As far back as we know, the Earth’s electromagnetic field has been protecting all living things with this natural frequency pulsation of 7.83 Hz. You can think of this as the earth’s heartbeat. The ancient Indian Rishis referred to this as OHM, or the incarnation of pure sound. Whether by coincidence or not, the frequency of 7.83 Hz also happens to be a very powerful frequency used with brain wave entrainment as it’s associated with low levels of alpha and the upper range of theta brain wave states. This frequency has also been associated with high levels of hypnotizability, suggestibility, meditation, and increased HGH (human growth hormone) levels, in addition to increased cerebral blood-flow levels while this frequency is being stimulated.
It would seem then that our nervous system can be influenced by the earth’s electromagnetic field. Maybe that’s why being in nature has always been so restorative and healing. Disconnecting from a typical city setting by reducing our exposure to crowds, traffic, work, and routine life-and instead getting out in natural surroundings-can slow our brain waves down from the aggressive, vigilant, anxious, and impatient states that are seen in higher ranges of beta brain waves to more restorative alpha waves.
On January 31, 2017, for the first time in recorded history, the Schumann resonance reached frequencies of 36+ Hz. It was considered an anomaly when in 2014 this frequency rose from its usual 7.83 Hz to somewhere in the 15-25 Hz levels-so a jump from 7.83 Hz to 36+ Hz is a big deal.

Commentary: To produce an affordable IoT, in addition to harsh working conditions, corners will need to be cut on cyber security, conflict minerals, health, and proper handling of e-waste. Our personal data will add greatly to the business case, as will the use of cheap toxic materials in products. But thankfully, the unintended consequence of “cutting corners” is that many people are very wary about buying IoT products.

Commentary: All right, a “bot” on social media that tweets offensive jokes may not be so bad…but what about when robots are endowed with assignments that could potentially impact the world in far more devastating ways.

Commentary: We see it again – “citizens’ demand for ubiquitous wireless communications.” The Telecom industry presents themselves as having nothing to gain from “small cells”. They’re deploying these as a service for us.
